Unihan 2 is compliant with all of today’s major standards. It supports the ISO 14755 direct entry standard and it can type any character in the whole repertoire of GB 18030 and ISO 10646/ Unicode™ 4.0 standards. Unihan 2 also adhere to the Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set (HKSCS) specification and is the only GB18030 Certified input platform. In addition, Unihan 2 meets OpenI18N 1.3’s Level 2 requirements for text input as well.

Unihan 2 is currently available for Linux platforms, and can be ported to other Unix-like platforms according to your specifications. For proper operation in X Window, a font that includes Chinese glyphs must be usable by the fontconfig/Xft2 libraries. For a smoother user experience, a minimum of 8MB of available free RAM from startup is recommended for GNOME and other desktops.
